‘Didn’t Realize They Were Hanging with Mr. Cooper’: Reporter Doesn’t Recognize Actor Mark Curry While Interviewing Him, Social Media Reacts

made headlines on May 10 after a KTLA 5 reporter named Lauren Lyster failed to recognize the “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” star when she interviewed him alongside an unidentified driver and an Auto Club of Southern California spokesperson about the rising Los Angeles gas prices. Gas prices in LA have surged to more than $4 per gallon, in part reportedly because of demand from more people wanting to travel after delaying road trips and travel during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as reduced fuel production as a result of refinery maintenance.

Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines announced plans Thursday to add service for the first time from Hollywood Burbank Airport, the latest sign that travel demand is beginning to recover from a yearlong pandemic slump.
The news that the Las Vegas-based carrier will add three routes out of Hollywood Burbank Airport starting in July comes less than a month after a former United Airlines executive made Burbank the launchpad for a new low-cost carrier, Avelo Airlines.
Although the number of passengers passing through U.S.-based airports is still only about 60% of pre-pandemic levels, travel and tourism leaders predict that pent-up demand will result in a surge of air passengers this summer, thanks to the vaccine rollout and declining coronavirus cases.
Tuesday, May 11. Here’s what’s happening with the coronavirus in California and beyond.
During the darkest days of the pandemic, I couldn’t shake the grim fear that vaccines would never be enough to stem what had become a daily mass-casualty event. L.A. s hospitals were running low on oxygen, ambulances were forced to wait for hours before unloading patients, and air quality regulations had to be lifted so crematoriums could process the backlog of bodies.
How quickly things change. COVID-19 vaccines have proved effective beyond my wildest hopes. But for some commentators, it’s not enough to stop them from fretting about whether or not we’ll reach herd immunity.
Mark Curry Interviewed About L.A. Gas Prices While Pumping Gas
By Stephen Douglas
Mark Curry was interviewed about gas prices on KTLA.
KTLA ran a story on soaring Los Angeles gas prices on Monday, with reporter Lauren Lyster reporting on-location at a local gas station. Lyster spoke with someone from the Auto Club of Southern California, as well as two drivers. One of those drivers was Mark Curry. What this viral tweet suggests is that they might not have known that.

Temperatures are rising and you’re thinking about a summer road trip to somewhere with a lot of open space so you won’t be stuck in a stuffy airplane or a crowded hotel lobby, trying to hold your breath.
You are not alone.
Nearly 90% of Southern Californians will travel by car during the Memorial Day weekend 7 percentage points higher than before the pandemic, according to the Auto Club of Southern California travel forecast, which was released Tuesday. And three of the five most popular destinations are expected to be national parks.
Two crowded urban destinations, San Francisco and Anaheim, have dropped out of the top five list for the first time in recent memory, primarily because travelers believe that outdoor vacations let them worry less about mask mandates and COVID-19 protocols, Auto Club representatives said.
