The city has been under the Declaration since March 16, 2020.  Our citizens and businesses have worked diligently to follow safety and health guidelines throughout the pandemic. If CDC approves Pfizer for 12 to 15-year-olds, some counties to distribute, others not

MISSOURI - The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet Wednesday to advise the CDC director on recommending use of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15.  Some mid-Missouri health departments and centers are preparing clinics to serve this new eligible community, but other said they don t and won t have the supplies to distribute the Pfizer vaccine to this age group.  KOMU 8 News reached out to eight mid-Missouri county health departments to see if the vaccine will be available to this age group. Hospitals and independent vaccine distribution clinics are not included in this county analysis. Below are the health department and centers responses:

In-person WIC visits return at health department Published by admin on Thu, 05/06/2021 - 9:32pm With lower COVID-19 case numbers across the county and state, and following direction from the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services, the Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) began in-person women, infant and children’s (WIC) appointments this week. “We are looking forward to returning to the in-person visits,” stated WIC coordinator and registered nurse Becky Wieberg. “We’ve missed seeing our program participants in person the past year.” Following direction from the state and federal WIC program, the ACHD suspended in-person visits to the health department in March of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Clients were contacted remotely the day before their appointment and then were allowed to come to a walk-up window to have their benefit cards reloaded.

Local health departments prepared for National Guard scale back Published COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ) Local health departments feel prepared for the scale back of the National Guard from vaccination events. Thursday, Governor Mike Parson announced Missouri National Guard members would begin scaling back in coronavirus vaccine support as the demand for vaccines has hit a sharp decline. Mass vaccination clinics are not expected to be scheduled as the vaccine demand has decreased. The draw down of Missouri National Guard members is set to complete June 1. Parson says the National Guard has administered over 382,000 vaccines during its time of support to the state s vaccination efforts.
