A man was shot Monday in Powdersville by a deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff s Office, according to Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride.
McBride said officers responded to a call for a welfare check at about 12:40 p.m. Monday at 1535 Circle Road. The call was made by the injured man s male roommate over an argument the two were having. McBride said the call then developed more into a welfare check.
The suspect, who McBride described as a white male in his 50s, had a gun when the two responding deputies arrived. The deputies were trying to talk to the man when he went back inside the house and barricaded himself in with the roommate.
