Saturday May 1st - Open Thread - The Last Refuge

May 1, 2021 12:47 am I need some advice from all of the cat people here! In the last week, my husband and I have come into contact repeatedly with a cat. The first time was at our house, the next time was on a walk around the block in our neighborhood and tonight was across the street from our house. The cat approaches and rubs up against us purring when being pet, flops on her side/back so we can rub her belly and when we leave looks up and stares. She doesn’t have tags or a collar and we don’t know if she is someone’s pet. She is small but doesn’t look like she’s starving. We don’t want to take someone’s pet cat but are afraid the cat will get hurt or worse…today she was in the middle of the road before she came running over. We have never had a cat (only dogs) and are a little clueless but really want to help her if she needs it.

Buhari criticism: Presidency opens can of worms on Mbaka, cleric s supporters kick

Punch Newspapers Sections Jesusegun Alagbe, Alexander Okere and Stephen Angbulu Published 1 May 2021 Published 1 May 2021 The Presidency on Friday derided the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Fr Ejike Mbaka, for criticising the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), over his alleged failure to contain insecurity and wanton killings of Nigerians by banditry gangs. The Presidency attributed Mbaka’s criticism of the President to a decision by Buhari to reject a contract request made by the cleric. Mbaka, who supported the President during the 2015 and 2019 elections, made a U-turn on Wednesday, asking Buhari to resign or be impeached for not doing enough to tackle widespread insecurity.

North is not afraid of restructuring - Gov Masari

The Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has dismissed insinuations that the North is not in support of Nigeria’s restructuring. According to ThisDay, Masari noted that the way the country would be restructured should promote equitable allocation of both human and natural resources. “Who said the North is not interested in restructuring? I think the North believes that there should be devolution. In devolving, you know many things are going to come with it. “What I am telling you is more than my own personal opinion, because even from the Northern Governors’ Forum, there is unanimity on the issue of devolution. The extent is what has to be worked out,” he said.
