Alcohol, cell phone use suspected in car crash Ellsworth Police Log Week of March 4 ELLSWORTH A Charleston resident crashed his 2007 Toyota pickup while operating under the influence and texting, according to Cpl. Ellsworth Police Log Week of Dec 17 - The Ellsworth American

Ellsworth Police Log Week of Dec. 17 ELLSWORTH Two cars had their oil pans punctured when they ran over metal debris on the road at the intersection of High Street and Downeast Highway on Dec. 9. Both incidents occurred between 8 and 8:10 a.m. Both cars were disabled and towed. “It’s unknown where the debris came from,” Detective Andrew Weatherbee said in reporting the first accident. “But it looked like the ring that goes around a manhole cover. There were no manhole issues in the area that were observed.” Melissa Jo Davis of Lamoine ran over the debris at 8 a.m. in her 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, with Dave’s Towing removing the car from the intersection. Minutes later, McKenzie Bowcock of Ellsworth made a left turn from High Street onto Downeast Highway and ran over the same debris.
