SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - The Dakota-Thurston County Fair will be in full swing this upcoming August.
The fair runs from Aug. 4 through Aug. 8 in South Sioux City, Nebraska in Atokad Park. They had to scale things back last, but this time around it ll be at full scale.
All of their events are expected to take place this year as planned, with the Little Prince and Princess Contest starting things off on Wednesday.
On Thursday, there ll be a parade down Dakota Avenue, followed by a tractor pull that night. Be sure to be on the lookout for KTIV during the parade, because we ll be flinging Bings to all the fair-goers.
Rob Tuel Announced as the New Voice of Evangeline Downs
Next week, in Opelousas the flag will go up, the runners will be all in line, the gate will open and the live racing season at Evangeline Downs will be underway. This year fans of live horse racing, Louisiana style, will hear a different voice calling the action and handicapping the racing. That voice belongs to veteran track announcer Rob Tuel.
Tuel will take over the announcing duties that for the past six years had been the responsibility of Michael Chamberlin. In addition to letting bettors know where their selection is tracking during live racing, Tuel will also handicap the track s nightly race card.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel has announced the hiring of Rob Tuel as its new full-time track announcer replacing Michael Chamberlain, who had spent the last six years behind the microphone in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Tuel s race calling experience began in 2004 at Eureka Downs in Kansas, where he called both Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses. Over the years he has also called races in his home state of Nebraska at FairPlay Park, Lincoln Race Course and Atokad Park.
“I am honored and thrilled to be selected as the new track announcer at Evangeline Downs,” said Tuel. “It has been a lifelong dream to the announcer at such a prestigious racetrack and I cannot wait to begin.”
