The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission on Thursday issued the notification for resumption of stalled poll process to the mandal and zilla parishad territorial constituencies. As per the notification, the election will be held on April 8 and counting of votes on April 10.
The Commission saw hectic activity since Thursday morning when Nilam Sawhney assumed charge as the new State Election Commissioner.

AMARAVATI: Even as the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission on Sunday directed all District Collectors to keep the ward volunteers away from the election process for the urban local body polls scheduled for March 10, the village and ward volunteers are in the process of distributing the monthly pension and ration for the people in the State.
The distribution of pension amount under the YSR Pension Kanuka has commenced across the State from Monday morning. By 9.30 AM, 62.27 per cent of pensions have been disbursed, where more than 38.23 lakh people have received pension so far.
Andhra Pradesh HC stays launch of citizen reporting app by State Election Commission

The Andhra Pradesh High Court stayed the state’s election commission from launching a mobile app developed to report model code violations in the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections in the state, until February 9. The app, called e-Watch Online was launched by the the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission on February 3, but immediately drew ire from the YSRCP, who claimed that the app was designed to favour the Telugu Desam Party.
Subsequently, a number of petitions were filed challenging the app’s rollout. One petition sought the High Court to direct the State Election Commission not to use the e-Watch app, claiming that the app was yet to obtain a necessary Security Audit Certificate, and was not in compliance with the National Cyber Security Policy, 2013, and the Andhra Pradesh Cyber Security Policy, 2017.

Amaravati: In a rare occurrence, the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission on Saturday issued orders to the Director-General of Police to ensure that Minister P Ramachandra Reddy is confined to his home till 21 February for his alleged remarks against the commission.
Panchayat polls in the state are scheduled to begin from 9 February and will go on till 21 February in four phases.
