The Karnataka government on Friday announced more relaxations from June 14 in the 19 districts, including Bengaluru Urban, where Covid positivity rate has fallen below 5%. The relaxations will be in force till June 21 after which revised guidelines may be issued depending on the Covid-19 situation in these districts, the government reiterated. While bars and pubs have been allowed to reopen only to sell liquor bottles as takeaway, standalone liquor shops have been allowed to open from 6am to 2pm. Earlier, these shops were allowed to operate from 6am to 10am. Optical shops have been allowed to reopen between 6am and 2pm. The revised Unlock 1.0 guidelines announced by the state said regional transport offices (RTOs), tahsildar, taluk and all other offices of the revenue department, housing, cooperation and Nabard have been allowed to function with 50% staff. Karnataka to get 20,000 doses of Covaxin also: Health minister   Thu, Jan 14 2021 08:02:40 AM Bengaluru, Jan 14 (IANS): Karnataka would get 20,000 doses of Covaxin from Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech for administering to frontline warriors, including healthcare workers, in the first phase from January 16, state Health Minister K. Sudhakar said on Wednesday. The state will soon receive 20,000 doses of Covaxin from Hyderabad by air and these will be used to inoculate 16 lakh frontline warriors across the state in phase one from January 16 onwards, said Sudhakar, a medical doctor by profession, in a statement. The state has received 8 lakh doses of Covishield from the Pune-based Serum Institute of India since Tuesday.

updated: Jan 14 2021, 07:29 ist One thousand vials of Covaxin, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Indian pharmaceutical company Bharat Biotech, arrived at the state vaccine store at Anand Rao Circle here on Wednesday. Each vial contains 20 doses.  SpiceJet’s freighter flight SG 7555 took off from Hyderabad at 8.50 am, carrying three boxes weighing 90 kg of Covaxin, and landed in Bengaluru at 10.23 am.  An official in the immunisation wing of the Karnataka Health Department confirmed to DH that they had received 20,000 doses of the vaccine.  Unlike Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, Covaxin has been approved under the ‘clinical trial’ mode. During the first two months of the rollout, Bharat Biotech has to notify drug regulators every fortnight the adverse effects of the vaccine.

The consignment of Covishield vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India arrived from Pune in a SpiceJet aircraft. The aircraft carrying 54 boxes of the vaccine, consisting of approximately 6.48 lakh doses arrived at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) at 11.45 am. The vaccines were offloaded from the aircraft and then brought to the Menzies Aviation Bobba (Bangalore) Pvt. Ltd and then loaded on to a truck which transported it to the government storage facility near Anand Rao circle. From the state and regional vaccination stores, the vaccines will be further distributed to district, taluk and booth level centres by road with mobile walk-in freezers.
