Vernon A Jeffers Snr is Executive Chairman of the ABHTA

Former Chairman Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA), Vernon A Jeffers Snr has been appointed the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, the association announced in a release on Friday.
Jeffers took up the position on May 1st, 2021, as the industry continues to recover from the setbacks presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. His work will be focused on supporting the Board of Directors and Management of the Association in meeting its strategic goals.
“I have had the distinct pleasure to serve not only as Chairman of the Association (2019 – 2021) but also as a Director of the Board for over 10 years,” Jeffers said.

The Antigua Barbuda Hotels & Tourism Association says over 2,000 hospitality workers have now been vaccinated. See full press release below:
Over two thousand (2,000) Hospitality professionals across Antigua and Barbuda to include Hotel workers, Tour Operators, Restaurant and Retail employees have been on the frontline of the vaccination process this past week.
The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment, with the support of the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association organized vaccinations for members of the Association serving at the frontline of tourism services for the destination.

The Labour Department has advised that only the Boxing Day holiday which will be commemorated on December 28th, 2020, will be recognised and compensated as such.
‘The Labour Department wishes to advise that based on the December 17, 2020 Proclamation by the Governor General via Statutory Instrument 2020, No. 82; Saturday 26th December, 2020 will not be a Public Holiday. Further, the Boxing Day Holiday, 2020 will be commemorated on December 28th, 2020 throughout Antigua and Barbuda,” the Labour Commissioner said in a statement.
