Subscriber only The family of a man who was killed during an alleged fatal hit and run on the Far North Coast were never consulted before the driver responsible pleaded guilty to the agreed facts of the case, a court has heard. Graham Belcher, 52, was set to be sentenced in Lismore District Court on Wednesday for dangerous driving causing death and grievous bodily harm and failing to stop and assist. The British man was driving a blue 2019 Hyundai i30 when he collided with two motorcyclists on Tweed Valley Way near Tumbulgum, on September 2, 2019. A 39-year-old Gold Coast man, Scott Rose, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stuart Charles Newman, 52, was driving along Wilsons Creek Rd, Wilsons Creek, when he fatally struck 22-year-old Tim Watkins in the early hours of June 23, 2019. After striking Tim with his Mitsubishi Delica vehicle, Newman fled the scene without calling for help. Tim died at the scene from traumatic injuries, having been struck with such force his body was found 47 metres from the initial impact, according to court documents.

SOUTHGATE, Mich. – Raymond John Alkewich, 31, is accused of killing a pregnant Southgate mother in a hit-and-run incident Saturday.
He was arraigned Tuesday and was charged with failure to stop at scene of an accident resulting in death.
The family of 35-year-old Jessica Strother honored her at an emotional vigil Sunday. Her family knows the arraignment won’t bring her back, but they’re hoping it’s a step in the right direction for the grieving family.
“A Detective Stated to the court that Mr. Alkewich did not even have a license on the date of this offense and quite frankly should not have been driving in the first place,” said Judge Elisabeth Mullins in court.
Philadelphia police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in West Philadelphia. The incident happened Friday at about 8:15 p.m. on 54th Street and Wyalusing Avenue.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police have arrested the suspect of a hit-and-run crash that killed a New Orleans fashion designer on St. Charles Avenue last month.
According to jail records, Adrian Caliste Jr., 22, was booked Thursday on one count of manslaughter and one count of first-degree injuring of public records.
Christina Larsen, 31, was struck by a vehicle while walking near the intersection of St. Charles and Harmony Street around 7 p.m. on Feb. 27. The driver sped off and abandoned the car, police say.
