Ludlow surgery mindful of patients who have lost loved ones for whom vaccine came too late

This is an indication of the speed of the roll out. Station Drive Surgery has told its patients that following a clinic at Ludlow Hospital on Sunday, it was in a position to move onto cohort 5, vaccinating patients below 69, from next week. “We aren’t unique in meeting this achievement; and although our team has moved mountains to attain these figures. with all doctors, nurses and reception staff working at the surgery, the Church Stretton vaccination clinics, our clinics at Ludlow hospital, the Ludlow racecourse site alongside shifts across the county for other areas, all the practices across south west Shropshire, Clun, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Ludlow, have achieved this coverage alongside us,’ said a posting from the surgery.

River levels in Ludlow and Tenbury fall but only to rise again with flooding risk

River levels have been falling but they are expected to rise again. There are flood alerts in place in the upper and lower Teme catchment. River levels are forecast to rise again at Leintwardine, Onibury and Ludlow on the River Corve river gauges as a result of heavy rainfall. There is flooding of low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Teme, River Onny and River Corve and their tributaries. Locations that may be affected include Bishops Castle, Church Stretton, Knighton and Ludlow. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. River levels are also predicted to rise at the Newnham Bridge river gauge following the rain.

Pfizer vaccine means most early Covid jabs will be given from Church Street centre

COMMUNITY mass vaccination of people in south Shropshire has started today. Doctors will be working together as a group of practices, from the Health and Wellbeing Centre in Church Stretton. The team will be made up of GPs, nurses, health care assistants and administrative staff from all practices in Ludlow, Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Clun and Bishops Castle. However they will still be running their normal practice surgeries. The first cohort of patients will be the over 80s. They will be receiving the Pfizer vaccine. This cannot move from the site in Church Stretton to where it is being delivered and this is why appointments might be there instead of the normal GP practice.
