Health Department vaccination clinics end this month

At Thursdayâs county officials meeting Hill County Public Health Director and Health Officer Kim Larson said due to a lack of attendance the Hill County Health Department will retire its COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the end of this month. Larson said the clinics have only been drawing 50 people for the last few weeks, so the remaining clinicsâ hours will be reduced to noon to 5 p.m. at Holiday Village Mall for the remainder of their time in operation. She said the department will split their remaining vaccine supply between all providers in the county, but will keep some for ongoin.

Vaccination against COVID-19 in the area continues despite a significant drop in traffic at the Hill County Health Department’s weekly vaccine clinics. Hill County Public Health Director and Health Officer Kim Larson said, at the Hill County Health Board’s bi-weekly COVID-19 update last Friday, about 30 percent of the eligible population in the county is fully vaccinated and a further 43 percent have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Larson said these numbers are very good, but the traffic at her department’s weekly vaccine clinics has dropped significantly.

Vaccinations continue in Hill County after a small spike in COVID-19 cases, and Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said during a Hill County Board of Health meeting Friday that the board hold a special meeting in the Hill County Courthouse Annex at noon today to discuss the mask mandate. In the COVID-19 update, Friday Hill County Public Health Director and Health Officer Kim Larson said, as of 10 a.m. that day, the county only had 11 active cases of COVID-19, which was very exciting for the department. She said the week of March 1 to March 7 the county saw 19.93 new cases per day per.
