“This trend has to be turned around, and the only way we can do so is by seeing a decline in numbers,” Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said.
Restrictions for Greater Sydney including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour will tighten from 5pm today.
Outdoor public gatherings are limited to two people (excluding members of the same household)
People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10kms of home for exercise and outdoor
Browsing in shops is prohibited, and only one person per household, per day may leave the home for essential shopping.

The Premier foreshadowed the possible extension and announced new restrictions as the state recorded 44 new local COVID-19 cases on Friday.

Of the new locally acquired cases, 35 are linked to a known case or cluster – 25 are household contacts and 10 are close contacts – and the source of infection for 9 cases remains under investigation.
Ten cases were in isolation throughout their infectious periods and eight cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Nineteen cases were infectious in the community and seven cases remain under investigation.

New South Wales has recorded 44 new coronavirus cases - the highest number of local infections in the state during the latest outbreak - as Premier Gladys Berejiklian tightened restrictions and a major police operation began in Sydney s south-west.
Ms Berejiklian on Friday said the numbers are going to go up in the next few days as 29 of the new cases were in the community while infectious.
