Amid the spike in COVID-19 cases across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the high burden states over the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The meeting was held virtually and also included Home Minister Amit Shah, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal as well as Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and officials of the Health Minister.
India recorded 3,32,730 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike since the pandemic broke out last year. India has crossed the mark of 3 lakh COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days now. Against this backdrop, the PM Modi met with the Chief Ministers of 11 states and union territories including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. The Union government has said that the registration for the third phase of Covid vaccination for everyone above 18 years of age will start on April 28. The registration will start on the CoWIN platform and Aarogya Setu App. Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted, Are you 18+? On April 28 register for vaccination against Covid 19 on tp//Cowin.gov.in. Largest Vaccine Drive Phase 3 - begins on May 1 . No walk-in allowed There will be no walk-in allowed for beneficiaries in the third phase. MyGovIndia s tweet said, Only self registration and advance appointments for people between 18 and 45 years of age. No walks in allowed.

Though Telangana has placed order for over 4 lakh vials of Remdesivir, the State was allotted only 21551 vials of the antiviral drug for ten days (April 21-30). Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender who pressed alarm bells over crucial COVID-19 resources, has called out central government’s discrimination in allotting the antiviral drug, oxygen, vaccines, to the State.
