Sehat Sahulat programme: a bonanza for private hospitals

July 14, 2021 PESHAWAR: Though the Sehat Sahulat programme, the flagship project of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a blessing for millions of patients, it desperately needs a review as it is being misused by the private hospitals. The initiative was first launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Sehat Insaf Card in September 2016 to provide free-of- charge health care to families living below the poverty line. The government must thoroughly investigate which criteria was used in selection of private sector hospitals for the Sehat Sahulat programme as according to official sources, some of the hospitals on the panel are ill-equipped and below the standard of even a basic health unit (BHU).

Mismanagement in use of corona vaccine: KP Health Department initiates probe against ex-DHO Mardan

Peshawar May 7, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department on Thursday initiated an inquiry against the former district health officer (DHO) Mardan Dr Kachkol Khan and his team for allegedly selling the Covid-19 vaccine and injecting distilled water into the elderly people who came for vaccination. People had lodged complaints on the Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal and also informed Dr Faisal Sultan, advisor to the prime minister on health, about the mismanagement in use of the coronavirus vaccine and its alleged sale to irrelevant people in Mardan. Dr Faisal Sultan had directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for conducting an inquiry into the complaints and also recommended disciplinary action against the DHO.
