Mumbai, May 25 : With the number of Mucormycosis or Black Fungus cases on the rise in Maharashtra, the state will get 60,000 vials of the Amphotericin B injection early June, Health Minister Rajesh Tope said here on Tuesday.
The government has issued a global tender for this injection and it is expected to be available by June first week, said Tope after a review meeting of the Covid-19 and Mucormycosis situation in the state presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Mumbai: Maharashtra has been witnessing a growth in the cases of Mucormycosis, and in a recent development the state government has declared the Black fungus as a notified disease.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday (May 25) said that the state government has classified black fungus as a notified disease. Addressing the media, Tope said, There are 2,245 cases of black fungus in the state. The state government has classified black fungus as a notified disease. Under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, patients of black fungus will receive free treatment at state-run hospitals, the Maharashtra Health Minister further said. Several states and UTs have declared mucormycosis, also called black fungus, as an epidemic under the Epidemic Diseases Act (1897).

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope says, Covid Care Centres must be increased The Maharashtra government has banned home isolation of Covid-19 patients in 18 districts where the positivity rate is higher and has ordered the district administrations to increase the number of Covid-19 Care Centres.
State Health Minister Rajesh Tope while speaking to reporters in Mumbai said that there are 3,27,000 active patients in Maharashtra and the recovery rate is 93 per cent. He added that the positivity rate has come down to 12 per cent and the death rate is 1.5 per cent.
“There are 18 districts where positivity rate is higher compared to the positivity rate in the State. We have suggested during the review meeting of 18 districts that home isolation must be stopped 100 per cent and Covid Care Centres must be increased.
