Maharashtra state government on Friday decided to cap admission and treatment costs for
Mucormycosis or black fungus patients at all private hospitals. The latter may not have taken too kindly to the move.
The decision came after the state took into consideration high treatment costs at private hospitals. The state government has made Mucormycosis cases notifiable and its treatment free at all government hospitals and 132 Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana-empaneled hospitals (state-run and private).
In a major relief to COVID-19 patients from rural areas of the state, the Maharashtra government has announced rationalisation of the rates of treatment at private hospitals.

The earlier rates, prescribed by the government during the first wave of the pandemic, were based on the rates prevalent in Mumbai, said health minister Rajesh Tope.

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced rationalisation of the rates of COVID-19 treatment at private hospitals which is expected to give relief to patients in rural areas.
The earlier rates, prescribed by the government during the first wave of the pandemic, were based on the rates prevalent in Mumbai, said health minister Rajesh Tope.
