After Assam, Meghalaya slashes petrol/diesel prices by up to Rs 5.54 per litre

Guwahati, Feb 16 : After Assam, the government in neighbouring Meghalaya on Tuesday announced a reduction of prices by at least Rs 5.54 per litre on petrol and diesel.
Recently, Meghalaya had cut petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said in a tweet: In addition to the previous rebate of Rs 2 per litre, the government has decided to reduce petrol price further by Rs 5.4 per litre and diesel by Rs 5.1 per litre to offer relief to the consumers of Meghalaya with slight variations in other districts.
(MENAFN - IANS) p>Guwahati, Feb 15 (IANS) External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar on Monday said that the government has been trying to develop infrastructure and connectivity, besides enabling the environment in Assam to attract more foreign investment, particularly the Japanese investors.
Accompanied by the Japan Ambassador to India, Satoshi Suzuki, Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is very serious to develop the northeastern region and Assam with more investments. Japanese companies are familier to Assam. India-Japan partnership can really make a difference. Assam is the springboard of India s Act East Policy, he told the media.
Referring to the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) aided projects, the Minister said that several projects worth Rs 9,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore are almost committed or implemented or under discussions.

Assam’s Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Congress party’s anti- Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) pitch for the upcoming Assembly polls is out of sync with what the people want to hear from their leaders after a year of having suffered COVID-19. The party was more “2019 than 2021” in its outlook, he said.
