Arrivals from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan constitute the majority of Sydneyâs COVID-19 variant cases over the past month, as health officials monitor the growing number of cases in Latin America and Europe.
Before March, the highest number of variant cases in Sydneyâs hotel quarantine system came from Lebanon, where the UK B.1.1.7 variant remains rife.

This is the fourth death from Covid-19 to have been reported in the past few days

Maldives has reported the 71st Covid-19 fatality.
The Health Emergency Operations Center revealed that deceased is an 80-year-old man who was admitted at Hulhumalé Medical Facility.
The man died at around 11:25pm on Monday.
This is the fourth death linked to Covid-19 reported in the Maldives over the past few days.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 23 lives in the Maldives thus far this ongoing year.
With an alarming spike in case count over the past few months, hospitalizations had also increased in comparison to what was observed during the second Covid-19 wave in 2020. HPA earlier revealed that hospital admissions are currently lower than they were in mid-February, however, they were still higher in comparison to the hospital admissions recorded at the beginning of the ongoing year during March. Together, through and with the Grace of God, we continue to move forward with a clear plan of action that involves balancing lives and livelihoods in this era shaped by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
I must say that for the most part, we all have been doing remarkably well, navigating and implementing the different phases of the Virgin Islands COVID-19 response plan.
We are now in Phase III in the border reopening process which started on 1st December, 2020 allowing international travel through the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport and the carefully managed re-opening of the tourism industry.
