Yesterday was another horrific day particularly for the communities on the western fringe of the Porcupine Health Unit’s (PHU) region.
Nine new confirmed cases and one additional death were reported – all related to the outbreak in Kapuskasing, while six cases were added to the growing number in the Hearst, Hornepayne area.

A total of 15 confirmed COVID cases for the one day.
The PHU continued to reiterate the need for action.
“This is a stressful time for all,”states Dr. Lianne Catton, Medical Officer of Health at Porcupine Health Unit. “We need to continue to work together to protect our families, neighbours, coworkers, and communities to limit the spread of COVID-19. While the south seems to be reducing the numbers the north has seen their’s rise. The local health unit is also reporting the another death associated with COVID-19.
Late yesterday, the Porcupine Health Unit reported the third death from the outbreak at the long-term care home in Kapuskasing.
