“Until January 15, 2021 we are restricting travel from countries with confirmed UK variant. Apart from the 21 countries that have already been announced, the Department of Health and the Department of Foreign Affairs have recommended the addition of six countries with official reports confirming the detection of this UK variant,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
“The mandatory completion of the 14-day quarantine period regardless of RT PCR results has also been effect in all our international ports of entry for all returning Filipinos with travel history from countries with confirmed cases of the UK variant,” she added.
The Department of Health (DOH) will await the official announcement of the United States regarding a reported case of the new coronavirus strain in Colorado before including them in the travel ban.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the recommendation is subject for the approval of the Office of the President.
“We have recommended that there should be a travel ban also for 14 days, aside from the UK (United Kingdom), for these other countries that have already been identified with the new variant,” said Vergeire during a press briefing.
“Ilalabas palang ng Office of the President yung guidelines [The Office of the President will release the guidelines]. So we will await that -for the final approval and guidelines and the effectivity of such,” she added.
