Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said this in a virtual press briefing, noting that there is no enough evidence yet showing that the available vaccines can prevent the transmission of the virus.
“Sa ngayon, kahit fully vaccinated na ang mga returning Filipinos natin, tayo pa rin po ay nag re-require ng same procedure of quarantine and testing (As of now, even though our returning Filipinos have been fully vaccinated, we still require the same procedure of quarantine and testing),” Vergeire said in a virtual press briefing.
According to Vergeire, experts have said that there is a lack of evidence indicating that the available vaccines against the infectious disease can block the transmission of the virus.
The Department of Health (DOH) believed that local government units (LGUs) should implement proper scheduling of distributing cash assistance or administering the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines to avoid crowding in venues.

The Health department on April 8 temporarily halted the use of AstraZeneca’s vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on persons below 60 years old following reports of blood clotting with low platelets on some people inoculated with the vaccine oversees.
“Iyon pong mga nabakunahan na ng AstraZeneca, hindi naman po kailangan mangamba (Those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca, there is no need to worry),” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a press briefing.
“Unang-una, iyong adverse event na ito, wala pa ho tayong nanu-note na ganiyan dito po sa ating country kaya nga sinasabi natin precautionary measure lang ‘to (First of all, this adverse event, we have not noted anything like that here in our country so what we are saying is it is just a precautionary measure),” she added.
