In a meeting with President Duterte on Wednesday, April 28, Duque said 2,963 of the cases came from NCR, 1,478 from Calabarzon and 866 from Central Luzon.
He said of the 1,020,495 total cases, 67,769 were active cases.
“Almost half of this from NCR with 450,892 cases and 27,891 are active cases,” said Duque.
He said although the country is already seeing a decrease in cases, most of the cases are still in NCR, Calabarzon and Central Luzon.
The two-week growth rate in NCR, Duque said, also improved which is currently at negative 15 percent.
He said the average daily attack rate in the region remained high at 31.01 per 100,000 population.

MANILA, April 27 (Xinhua): The Philippines is committed to eradicating malaria in the country by 2030 completely, said Health Secretary Francisco Duque in an announcement.
According to the Philippines Department of Health (DOH), the country has succeeded in reducing malaria transmission by 87 percent from 48,569 in 2003 to 6,120 cases in 2020.
The DOH said the Philippines also reduced the number of people dying from malaria by 98 percent, from 162 deaths in 2003 to three deaths in 2020. A shrinking geographic extent of malaria, with 60 provinces officially declared as malaria-free, said the DOH, adding that an additional 19 provinces also reached the malaria elimination phase with zero local transmission, waiting to be assessed and declared malaria-free provinces.
