A company selected by the Morrison government for a multimillion-dollar contract to deliver coronavirus vaccine injections to Australia’s most vulnerable has also been one of the biggest health sector donors to the Liberal Party in the past decade.
Sonic Healthcare gave $533,500 to the Liberal Party between 2011 and 2017, with $450,000 of the cash going directly to the federal branch, Australian Electoral Commission records show. Over the same period, it gave in-kind support of $55,000 to Labor.

A high ranking paramedic has warned that Sydney’s ambulance network could once again be pushed to breaking point as a result of surging demand that has been building for a month.
A NSW Ambulance inspector, who cannot be named because he is not authorised to speak publicly, said he fears emergency response levels seen earlier this week could be repeated within days.
The network’s highest possible emergency response level – “status three” mode – was activated on Monday afternoon, when educators, managers and graduates were pulled off duties to respond to an overwhelming surge in demand.

NSW Ambulance educators, managers and senior graduate paramedics were pulled off their duties and sent on the road when Sydney’s ambulance network hit its highest possible emergency response level on Monday.
Over a two-hour period, the service received more than 400 triple zero calls, while sustained high demand sent its network into “status three” mode for 30 minutes.
At least one class of graduate paramedics was directed to self-guided learning activities as their educators responded. Some qualified graduates also assisted.
