Pakistan’s fresh Covid cases highest in nearly two months

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan confirmed 2,783 new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Saturday, which is the largest increase in infections since May 23.
The NCOC, a department leading Pakistan’s campaign against the pandemic, said the country’s number of overall cases rose to 986,668, amidst the fear of a challenging fourth wave due to the fast spread of the Delta variant of the virus.
Talking to media earlier on Friday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan said that the country has been consistently reporting around 2,500 new cases over the last few days. He urged the public to wear masks and follow the guidelines regulated by the government to protect themselves and their communities from the Delta variant that has been spreading fast in the country.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported 2,783 cases of coronavirus on Saturday, as per the statistics shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
A total of 49,247 people were tested for the infection on Friday, said the NCOC, out of whom 2,783 turned out to be positive.
