Those 55 and older in Huron Perth will soon be able to book their COVID-19 vaccine.
Huron Perth Public Health says they are lowering the eligibility age as of Friday for those who want to book a vaccine appointment at upcoming community clinics in the region.
So far, 37.2 per cent of Huron Perth residents have received at least one vaccine dose with 3.3 per cent being fully vaccinated.
Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health Dr.Miriam Klassen says it’s exciting that Ontario will be opening vaccine bookings for anyone over 18 by the end of May.

There are no borders when it comes to COVID-19.
That’s the response from Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health Dr.Miriam Klassen when it comes to her thoughts on a letter from her counterparts in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa asking
Premier Doug Ford to issue a province-wide stay at home order in addition to the four week lockdown that started on Saturday.
The three doctors say cases continue to rise in those areas despite the fact they’ve been in the grey zone for weeks and the current shutdown restrictions aren’t much different.

COVID-19 restrictions could soon be loosened in Huron Perth.
The region’s Medical Officer of Health Dr.Miriam Klassen said on Thursday that she took part in a call with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer earlier this week about our area moving zones from Orange-Restrict to Yellow-Protect.
Huron-Perth was placed at the Orange level under the province’s reopening framework on February 16th and it’s reviewed every two weeks.
She says they discussed several local factors, including the outbreak at the Stratford Jail, and adds many indicators would put us into the yellow zone.
