Published February 15, 2021 12:54pm Deputy Speaker Weslie Gatchalian is pushing for the imposition of stiffer penalties against individuals who falsify COVID-19 test results. In filing House Bill 8643, Gatchalian on Monday pointed out that faking a COVID-19 test result would pose risk to the safety of the public. The bill seeks to amend Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, to include the falsification of COVID-19 test results. “Though falsification of COVID-19 test results may seem like a trivial procedural matter to some, it may actually and recklessly endanger the lives of the people these offenders may interact or come into contact with,” Gatchalian said.

Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reminded the public to be vigilant and to get tested only in COVID-19 testing laboratories that were approved by the government.
“Makakasiguro tayo na authentic at saka official yung laboratory results na makukuha natin kung tayo ay pupunta sa lisensyadong laboratoryo ng gobyerno [We can be assured that the laboratory results we get are authentic and official if we go to a government-licensed laboratory],” she said.
“Pag pumunta tayo dito sa mga laboratoryo na nakita natin na wala namang license to operate, ay huwag na po kayong magpa-test dyan dahil hindi po official iyang result na iyan [If we go to laboratories with no license to operate, the result won’t be official],” she added.
