The hits keep coming for Sam Burgess with authorities confirming a formal investigation is underway into claims involving the South Sydney Rabbitohs chief doctor and the former rugby league star.
The Australian newspaper last year published allegations that longtime club medico Dr Andrew McDonald prescribed a liquid tranquiliser to calm down Burgess, 32, in November 2018 following wild partying.
But the article, which was recently tendered in court, claimed that Dr McDonald had actually made the Diazepam prescription out in the name of the football star s father-in-law Mitchell Hooke.
The extraordinary allegations caught the attention of the state s Health Care Complaints Commission, which began a preliminary 60 day probe of the allegations last October.
The party’s public statements are primarily aimed at stopping compulsory vaccination and coercive policies designed to encourage vaccination uptake. The federal health minister, Greg Hunt, has previously labelled the party “anti-vaxxers” while attempting to prevent its recent name change.
The retreat in Bellbrook, north-eastern New South Wales, was previously run by Michael’s wife, the banned wellness coach Barbara O’Neill, who wrongly told people their cancer was a fungus that could be cured with bicarbonate of soda rather than through conventional medical treatment, according to a finding from the Health Care Complaints Commission in 2019.
The commission also found O’Neill gave misleading and dangerous pregnancy and child-rearing advice in consultations and through online lectures.

Well-known eastern suburbs GP Joe Grech has been suspended for six months after he was found to have lied to the Medical Council, breached professional boundaries by treating his mentally ill girlfriend, inappropriately prescribed drugs and was found in possession of the drug ice.
The
Herald has previously revealed that for nearly two decades police received a steady stream of intelligence suggesting that Dr Grech has been involved in drug supply and possession and has been providing false medical certificates in return for cocaine, heroin and ice.

The allegations were contained in a lengthy police dossier tendered during the criminal trial of one of Dr Grech’s patients, the now jailed criminal lawyer Michael Croke.
