This afternoon, there were 1,975 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals, while 200 people are in intensive care with their symptoms. Stay at home The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the third wave has seen “more sick people in hospital than at any time in the course of this pandemic.” He said the increase in hospitalisations is not down to any change in the virus itself but to the much greater levels of community transmission the country is experiencing.
