Keith Neale, a 60-year-old homeless man, had his conviction for obstructing a police officer by failing to give his details quashed, by the High Court sitting in Cardiff. Comment: Note this man was homeless and police demanded his details when he was sitting on a city centre bench. In an important judgment on the legal duties of citizens under the coronavirus regulations Mrs Justice Steyn and Lord Justice Dingemans ruled that Neale was under no common law obligation or statutory duty to give the police his name and address.

A GROUP of Isle of Wight volunteers, fined for breaching Covid-19 lockdown rules, have had their £100 fines dropped, police have confirmed. Yesterday (Sunday), it was revealed a football team based in Ventnor had raised more than £700 on Go Fund Me after six volunteers were handed fines over a Covid-19 lockdown regulation breach. Police were called to the sports centre on Whitwell Road, Ventnor, at around 4pm on Saturday, following reports of a gathering of people drinking inside. Six men were initially reported for summons by the attending officer in relation to fixed penalty notices for suspected breaches of the current Health Protection Regulations by gathering.

Police fine Andover lockdown barbecue breach residents

A group of Andover residents ended up with a more expensive barbecue than they bargained for after breaching lockdown rules in town. Police officers said they were called to “numerous Covid-19 breaches” at the weekend, with fines totalling thousands being handed out to those found breaching the rules.
