NAS tells FG to implement health protection regulations in prisons, military detention cells

As Nigeria joins in the commemoration of World Day of Social Justice today, the National Association of Seadogs, NAS, Abuja Chapter has tasked the Federal Government to fully implement the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) Health Protection Regulations in the nation’s correctional facilities and custodial centres.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on 26th January 2021 in the exercise of the power vested in him by Section 4 of the Quarantine Act, Cap Q2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2010 and all enabling powers in that behalf signed the piece of legislation into law.

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, on Friday organised a political meeting in Agege in violation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) Health Protection Regulations 2021 Act recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari had in January signed the law in the exercise of his powers under Section 4 of the Quarantine Act.

Section 34 of the new law states that any offence under the regulation is punishable by a fine or a term of six months imprisonment or both.

People in Portsmouth are facing hefty fines after they breached lockdown rules by attending a party.
In a video released by Hampshire Constabulary, party-goers can be seen pushing and shoving to try and force their way out.
A total of 19 people were reported for summons in relation to £800 fixed penalty notices following the incident.
Police have released the footage in an effort to reiterate their stay at home message.
Officers attended the party on Saturday January 30, after receiving a report from a member of the public.
