Health Minster Greg Hunt has announced the immediate suspension of the green safe zone travel arrangement bubble with New Zealand for a minimum of 72 hours.
Mr Hunt said passengers coming to Australia from New Zealand should “reconsider their need to travel”.
The move comes after the Australian government received advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee of a significant COVID-19 case of concern in New Zealand, regarding the South African variant.
“Out of an abundance of caution the AHPPC has recommended to the government - and the government has immediately accepted and implemented the advice, Mr Hunt said.
