Barbados has achieved a major goal in its fight against COVID-19.
Minister of Health and Wellness Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic has revealed that for the first time the country had reached its target of 25 cases per 100, 000, following a positivity rate of 1.04 per cent during the past week.
Speaking during the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) three-year anniversary virtual conference on Sunday, Bostic said the country continued to make significant strides in its war against the respiratory virus that has claimed over 3.47 million lives worldwide.
The minister said along with the decreasing number of COVID-19 positive cases being identified, thousands of Barbadians were now fully vaccinated having received their second doses.

Winds of political change appear to be blowing across St Andrew, with new faces from both of the country’s major parties expressing an interest in representing the rural constituency in Parliament.
Businessman Oldwin Skeete has been selected by the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) to contest the seat, and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education Senator Dr Romel Springer has confirmed his interest in representing the constituency in a brief interview with
Barbados TODAY.
As recently as last Friday, Springer was invited to join Prime Minister Mia Mottley and Minister of Health and Wellness Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic in delivering remarks at the re-opening of the St Andrew Outpatient Clinic. The sitting BLP MP, George Payne, who has been the representative since 1991 was noticeably absent from the ceremony.
