The quality of bathing water in Ireland has continued to improved, with 96% of waters now meeting or exceeding minimum standards, the environmental watchdog has found.
However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warned that Irish Water needed to improve its management and treatment of urban wastewater, which it said was the most common source of pollution.
Thousands in East Cork facing weeks of boil water notice

The boil water notice affecting thousands of people in East Cork is set to remain in place for a few more weeks, Irish Water has admitted.
Heavy rain over recent days has resulted in high levels of turbidity at the Whitegate Regional Public Water Supply treatment plant at Kilva which has compromised water treatment.
