Tyson Foods workers have new option for college education

Tyson Foods is launching an in-plant educational and career development pilot program. Author: Talk Business & Politics Updated: 9:01 AM CST February 5, 2021 Tyson Foods is launching an in-plant educational and career development pilot program that provides workers with jobs skills training and workforce certifications beginning this year at no cost to workers. Workers in Tyson’s Green Forest and Berryville plants are among the facilities in the initial pilot program. The Upward Pathways training opportunities in Arkansas are offered in partnership with North Arkansas College in Harrison. Other plants in the pilot include: Albertville, Ala., Portland, Ind., Finney, Kan., Dakota City, Neb., Goodlettsville, Tenn., Seguin, Texas, and Council Bluffs, Iowa. In each of the pilots Tyson is working with a community college to deliver the training program.

Friday baskeball results include No 1 Viola girls falling to Rural Special

Friday’s local basketball results include the Arkansas Sports Media’s top-ranked girls’ team in Class 1A suffering its first conference loss. Viola ended up falling to Rural Special 53-50. Viola fared better on the boys’ side, as they defeated Rural Special 64-21. The Longhorns improve to 22-2 on the year. Ozark Mountain’s boys had a good night at North Arkansas College in Harrison. The Bears topped Jasper by a final of 61-53. The Gainesville boys had a short but successful road trip. The Bulldogs ended up beating Dora 72-27. Calico Rock’s high school teams went to Greers Ferry and were swept by West Side. The Pirates lost the boys’ game to the Eagles 77-46. Calico Rock’s girls did not fare any better,  as they fell to West Side 60-30.
