Angel Ramos-Corrales, 19, was arrested without incident Monday morning by the FBI and the Riverside Police Department. A federal criminal complaint filed Friday charges him with animal crushing, a federal crime of purposely subjecting certain types of animals to serious bodily injury not related to hunting or other lawful activity, according to the U.S. Attorney s Office.

Statewide task force continues to root out fraud in California s unemployment system

As part of the ongoing effort to protect Californians from fraud and ensure the integrity of the state unemployment system, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) in partnership with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the California Employment Development Department (EDD), and the State’s Districts Attorneys, the US Attorney’s Office announced additional progress by a state-led task force on investigations and interdiction efforts and has instituted new safeguards to protect Californians from fraud. A bail agent, who illegally carried a weapon and broke into a Palm Springs man s home early Friday, has been arrested after fatally shooting the man, authorities say.  The Riverside County Sheriff s Department announced Saturday that the bail agent, Fabian Herrera, 36, was not properly licensed and had a criminal history that should have prevented him from possessing a firearm.
