Woman killed in multi-vehicle crash on Route 199 near Williamsburg

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. James City County police investigated a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning that killed a woman.
Authorities say the crash took place in the westbound lanes of Route 199 about a half-mile east of the Longhill Road exit around 8:30 a.m.
Three vehicles were involved including a tow truck, a Jeep and a Honda.
After some investigation, police learned that the tow truck had stopped to tow a car that got stuck in the median early that morning.
Police said a tow truck stopped to tow a vehicle that was stuck in the median earlier Tuesday morning. The tow truck was partially in the left lane, and a 2003 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the left lane hit the tow truck from behind.

Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday off Humesline Parkway which left a York County woman dead.
On Tuesday at approximately 8:33 a.m. James City County police officers, the fire department and EMS responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Route 199 Humesline Parkway about a half-east from the Longhill Road exit, according to a JCC PD news release.
Police said a tow truck that had stopped to tow a vehicle stuck in the median had parked partially in the left lane.
“A 2003 Jeep Wrangler traveling in the left lane struck the tow truck from behind,” according to police. “The impact caused the Jeep to go into the right lane where it was struck by a 2018 Honda CRV.”
Statewide COVID-19 hospitalization rates continued to edge downward this past weekend, with 1,513 people in Alabama hospitals with coronavirus on Sunday, according to Alabama Department Public Health figures reported by BamaTracker.
That s down from 1,551 hospitalized Saturday and 1,666 Friday, and it marks the continuation of a trend during recent weeks.
On Jan. 8, there were 3,014 people hospitalized, according to ADPH almost double the number reported Sunday.
Riverview Regional Medical Center spokesperson Susan Moore said the numbers of COVID patients hospitalized at the Gadsden facility had been declining for the last seven to 10 days enough so that the hospital announced it would reopen visitation today for non-COVID patients, with virus-related modifications.
Wayne L. Tysinger
HAMPTON Wayne Lee Tysinger, 73, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at Riverside Regional Medical Center from SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19 pneumonia).
Born in Newport News, he grew up in the Hidenwood area and graduated from Ferguson High School in 1966. Wayne furthered his education at Southwood Junior College and the University of Richmond. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975.
Wayne worked with his father at CAT’s Auto Supply until 1996 and worked for Pomoco Auto Group and Hibbard’s Iron Works. In 2001, he went to work with the Hampton Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff, retiring in 2013. He was awarded Deputy of the Year in 2009 for esteemed duty in the Hampton General District Courts.
