Love & Peace: A unity walk in Westwood will be held Saturday to fight back against violence

MEMPHIS, Tenn. Love and peace: that s what organizers of a unity walk said will be needed to stop more shooting deaths in Memphis.
The Concerned Citizens of Westwood and the group Stop the Killing announced its anti-gun violence initiative with a walk in the Westwood community.
The purpose of Saturday’s event is to unite the community, empower them to engage in solutions to create neighborhoods, and give them better understanding about how crime impacts them.

January 15, is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, and The Capital Area Council of Churches invites everyone to a recorded program of praise, eulogies, and song to pay tribute to his life. The program is available at www.capareacc.org.
Part of the program will be an appeal for donations to the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Fund. That award is presented to a student(s) who demonstrates academic merit, financial need, and most importantly, the strength and determined character of the late Martin Luther King Jr.
