Decarbonisation: forefront of the 2021 IMarEST conference
This year’s Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) annual conference will highlight the importance of decarbonisation within the marine sector; reducing CO2 emissions, alternative fuels, offshore renewables and net-zero strategies to counteract global warming.
Building on the success of 2020, which attracted over 30 sessions, 65 speakers and 3,000 delegates from more than 90 countries, the two week online IMarEST Annual Conference 2021 will feature multiple streams exploring many of the big topics across marine engineering, science & technology.
This year’s conference, taking place from 28 June – 9 July, will bring together industry experts to explore a variety of themes.

On February 4, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has held video conference working session on development of construction industrial complex with participation of some Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments as well as heads of profile universities.
Having noted that issues related to optimal organization of work for keeping achieved rates of development, enhancement of efficiency of activity of the facilities of the complex and intensification of rates of reforms for successful fulfilment of the state programs in anniversary year would be discussed at the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov listened to the reports and proposals of the participants of the session.
BMT celebrates a year of ship design achievements
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, BMT has continued to work collaboratively with its maritime customers and partners to deliver a near business-as-usual service, and as the year draws to a close the business is celebrating a year of successful and diverse ship design project milestones and contract awards from across the globe.
From concept and design through to in-service support, throughout 2020 BMT has provided engineering consultancy for national governments on their naval procurement programmes. This includes helping to define specifications or requirements for maritime assets and reviewing evolving designs; in September, BMT was awarded a contract to conduct industry studies to advance the design of the next generation of U.S. Navy Auxiliary General Ocean Surveillance Ship (T-AGOS(X)).
