EDWARDSVILLE A Missouri man was charged Wednesday in the fatal shooting in Alton over the weekend.
Arvin W. Freeman, 44, of Springfield, Missouri, was charged Feb. 17 with two counts of first degree murder, in the shooting death of Robert Woods on Feb. 13.
Each count represents an alternative theory of the murder.
The shooting occurred just after noon Saturday. According to Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido, police responded to 11th Street near Alby Street for a “trouble” call, but started receiving reports of gunshots being fired while enroute.
The victim, identified in the charges as Robert Woods, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No other information on Woods was available.
