The agreement, which took effect on Jan. 29, allows Pomerene to become an Aultman affiliate.
The organizations said an affiliation between Aultman and Pomerene will help expand local services and the quality of care, increase access to recruiting and retaining employees, and improve Pomerene s financial performance and long-term stability.
When the affiliation is complete, the current management team and staff will remain in place. Pomerene will retain its name at this time.
Pomerene joins Aultman Orrville Hospital and Alliance Community Hospital under the Aultman Health Foundation umbrella that also includes Aultman Specialty Hospital, Aultman College and the AultCare health care plan.
WOOSTER Wayne County plans to send out a weekly message to confirm residents who are registered for the vaccine through the Health Department.
The initial launch of the notification system on Monday went a little awry when people already vaccinated or scheduled to be vaccinated received the message.
The health department sent a second message to clarify, but the bottom line is, If they got the first call, they’re on the list, said Nick Cascarelli, the Wayne County health commissioner. We apologize for any confusion, Cascarelli said.

WOOSTER A limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccines is slowing the rollout of local vaccination clinics, but as soon as the opportunity becomes available to get a shot, health providers are strongly encouraging everyone to take advantage.
“If you’ve seen what we’ve seen, you’d run to the front of the line to get that vaccine,” said Dr. Robert Sabota, a hospitalist and internist for Aultman Orrville Hospital, during a webinar about the vaccine held for the Wayne County business community Friday.
Sabota, who has seen at least 250 cases of COVID over the last year, joined several other health care professionals and public health officials to answer questions asked by members of the Wooster and Orrville chambers of commerce.
