Veteran surgeon Dr. Leon Miller was appointed acting Holmes County coroner by the commissioners on Monday. He received the oath of office from Dan Mathie, chairman of the Board of Directors of Pomerene Hospital. Miller, a general surgery specialist, replaces Dr. Robert Anthony, who will retire when his term ends Dec. 31.
