At least two people died and several were wounded, including three in a triple shooting, as gunfire rang out across Philadelphia Friday night into Saturday.
The victims, who range in age from 19 to 33 years old, were struck in separate shootings that happened in North Philadelphia, South Philadelphia, Southwest Philadelphia and Olney, said Officer Tanya Little, a Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman. Police did not immediately make any arrests in any of the shootings.

In Olney, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old had walked to a convenience store on the 5900 block of N. Front Street to buy some food and cigars around 10 p.m. Friday when gunfire rang out, Little said. The Philadelphia Police Department has released more details about a traffic stop in the city’s Logan neighborhood that ended in five officers fatally shooting at 24-year-old James Alexander Wednesday night.
One of the five officers responding to the stop also had to be taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the foot.
According to the police account, the shooting was preceded by a traffic stop at around 6:45 p.m. Two police officers pulled over the blue Kia sedan Alexander was in after the driver of the car did not stop at a stop sign on the 1500 block of Somerville Avenue.

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) welcomes Uche Onuoha, MD, MPH who will serve as the Medical Director for WorkWell, Southern Maine Health Care’s Occupational Health Program.
Dr. Onuoha completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, followed by Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, respectively. Dr. Onuoha is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received her Doctorate at Temple University School of Medicine, both in Philadelphia. She also holds a Master of Public Health from Mount Sinai School of Medical, New York. Since completing her training 9 years ago, Dr. Onuoha has practiced Occupational and Environmental medicine in large hospital based networks in New York and Pennsylvania.
