Pope Francis names new bishop for U.S. Virgin Islands

Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Jerome Feudjio, vicar general and chancellor of the Diocese of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, to head the diocese.
EDMONTON As the cold weather continues in Alberta, many school districts have already cancelled bus service for Tuesday morning. Elk Island Public Schools, Battle River School Division, Parkland School Division, STAR Catholic Schools, Aspen View Public Schools, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools and KEA transportation in Enoch have all cancelled bus service for Tuesday, but schools will remain open. Wolf Creek Public Schools is cancelling buses and closing its schools. Edmonton Public Schools said buses will be running on Tuesday, but there may be delays because of the weather. Edmonton Catholic Schools will also run buses on Tuesday. As closures continue to come in, families are encouraged to check School Zone in the morning for the most up-to-date information.

On Sunday evening some school districts in the Edmonton area cancelled bus service because of the extreme cold.
Elk Island Public Schools, the Parkland School Division, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, Black Gold School Division, and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Schools have cancelled buses, according to notices posted on division websites.

St. Albert Public Schools said in a tweet it’s possible the cold may make the buses unable to run.

Dr. Rhonda Nixon has been hired by School District 73 and will start her new job on July 1, according to a school district media release. “The board is confident that Dr. Nixon has the experience, credentials and dedication to excellence in education to continue the tradition of strong leadership within the district, school board chair Rhonda Kershaw said in the release. Dr. Nixon s 30 career spans various roles including working as a teacher, principal, professor at the University of Victoria and currently deputy superintendent of the Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools in Alberta.
