Ten firearms and nearly a quarter million dollars’ worth of drugs, cash, and vehicles have been seized following a series of search warrants in Lethbridge. Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams raided five homes and arrested five suspected drug dealers. ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime team concluded a lengthy drug trafficking investigation by searching five Lethbridge homes on January 21, 2021. Lethbridge Police Service helped with the searches and arrests. “Organized crime harms our communities, and drug trafficking breeds violence, addiction, and ancillary crimes. This investigation is further testament to ALERT’s success in working alongside our partner agencies to disrupt and dismantle organized crime,” said ALERT CEO Supt.   CALGARY A 50-year-old Canmore man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of possessing and making child pornography available. David Aschim admitted to making child pornography available over a five-week period in 2018 as well as possessing child pornography from mid-2018 through to his arrest in early January 2020. The investigation into Aschim followed nine reports to the United States National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding uploads from two accounts on the social networking site Rabbit. A search of the Internet Protocol address led police to Aschim s residence in Canmore where several electronic devices were seized on Jan. 3, 2020 as part of an investigation by RCMP and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams internet child exploitation (ICE) unit.
