RED DEER, Alta. – Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal shooting involving RCMP officers in Red Deer.
Mounties were responding to multiple driving complaints at around 9 p.m. Monday when they stopped a vehicle in the parkade at the Red Deer Hospital.
A confrontation with the male driver resulted in police fatally shooting the man.
No officers were injured.

RED DEER – One man is dead after police in central Alberta drew their guns and shot him Sunday night.
Mounties say they were called to Red Deer hospital’s parkade for several driving complaints and the situation escalated.
Officers say they stopped the car in question in the parkade, pulled out their guns, and fired.
ASIRT has been directed to investigate an @RCMPAlberta officer-involved shooting that took place earlier this evening in Red Deer. Details to follow.

EDMONTON A man was killed in a confrontation with central Alberta RCMP on Monday. According to Mounties, officers fired shots at the man during a confrontation around 9 p.m. in the parkade at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. The man had been driving a vehicle which RCMP had stopped while investigating driving complaints. RCMP did not say what prompted officers to fire their weapons, how many officers fired shots, how many shots were fired, or the age and name of the man killed. No police members were injured. Alberta s police watchdog, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, is investigating. RCMP are also conducting an internal review.
