Criminal charges have been found not to be warranted after an investigation into an incident in May where Lethbridge police responded to a woman in costume with a fake firearm promoting a local restaurant.
On May 4, Lethbridge Police responded to two 911 calls reporting a person in a Storm Trooper costume carrying a firearm along the 500 block of 13 Street North. The weapon was ultimately confirmed to be a fake firearm and the female subject, who indicated she was an employee promoting a local business, was not charged. Witnesses said the woman taken to the ground and handcuffed and police say the woman sustained what they described as a minor injury which did not require medical attention.

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - The force appears to be with police officers in southern Alberta who took a young woman wearing a Star Wars storm-trooper costume to the ground last May.
The 19-year-old restaurant employee, who had agreed to wear the white uniform of a Galactic Empire soldier and carry a plastic gun as part of a promotion, ended up with a bloody nose.
The Lethbridge Police Service says an investigation by Medicine Hat Police has determined that no officers will face criminal charges and the finding was reviewed by the Alberta Crown and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team.

No criminal charges will be laid following an external investigation into the Lethbridge Police Service takedown of a teenager dressed as a Star Wars character in May.
The investigation by the Medicine Hat Police Service was called after police drew their weapons and handcuffed a 19-year-old woman working at Coco Vanilla Galactic Cantina, a Star Wars-themed restaurant in Lethbridge.
