Dronecloud and Frequentis partner to begin drone trials

Dronecloud and Frequentis partner to begin drone trials Primary tabs 8th June 2021 The consortium is set to test the devices alongside air traffic control systems to help improve communications between drone operators and airside authorities   Drone flight management software provider, Dronecloud, has been chosen by Austrian technology company, Frequentis to collaborate on the development of open standard integrations which are set to help unlock Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flights within the UK.   The two companies plan to work together, alongside others within the consortium, to deploy the tech firm’s unmanned traffic management solution – MosaiX UTM.   Field trials initiated by Project Rise – the UK conglomerate that tests the reliability and safety of unmanned aircraft – are set to take place at Cranfield Airport in Bedfordshire, whereby Dronecloud will be tested in conjunction with air traffic controls (ATC).

Dronecloud, FREQUENTIS integrating drone platform with ATC

Frequentis will support Dronecloud and the consortium with its vast and extensive experience in deploying its unmanned traffic management (UTM) solution – MosaiX UTM. This solution provides the air traffic control (ATC) front-end application and the Common Information Service (CIS) cloud platform during project execution. The intuitive tower application, smartSIS, developed by Frequentis with the strong involvement of user interface experts in close cooperation with air traffic controllers (ATCOs), allows airspace rules and restrictions to be set fairly for all airspace users. The solution provides an integrated air situation picture and supports real-time decision-making. In addition, the MosaiX UTM includes a foundation for U-space (unmanned airspace) services and the CIS function, serving as the “single source of truth” for relevant safety information to reach connected stakeholders.
