The Spirit Lake School Board voted unanimously on April 28 to scale back some of the district s COVID-19 mitigation strategies, and some of the other area school districts plan to do the same. Spirit Lake s vote came one day after the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors lifted mask requirements within the Dickinson County Courthouse. Officials with Spirit Lake Schools said the board was unaware of the county s vote at the time, and the district made its decision independently. Gaps in data from some districts have been extrapolated.

Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) Monday night, the Spirit Lake School Board went over COVID-19 numbers in the school and changes to their policies. Angela Olson, the Director of District Office and Stem Projects says they have extended the FFCRA for their employer-paid leave.
Olson says the numbers at the schools continue to remain low.
Olson says they also went over the numbers for online learning and says they started with 62 kids in August, and out of those 62, 56 finished at Christmas break. With the start on January 4th, they now have 48 students enrolled in online learning.
