A bill giving a big win to Oregon bars and restaurants might be doing more harm than good, according to alcohol recovery advocates. Oregon lawmakers passed Senate Bill 317 on Tuesday, allowing to-go cocktails to continue even after the coronavirus pandemic. Governor Kate Brown signed legislation in December that allowed restaurants and bars to add to-go cocktails to their menus immediately as a way to help the industry that had been struggling.
Bill to make cocktails ‘to-go’ permanent, heads to governor’s desk for signature
PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona legislature passed a bill to permanently allow cocktails to go from restaurants, bars, and distilleries to support businesses affected by COVID-19.
Distilled Spirits Council of the United States said the bill, HB 2773, now heads to Governor Doug Ducey for his signature.
“Cocktails to-go has proved to be a vital economic lifeline for hospitality businesses across the U.S.,” said Adam Smith, Distilled Spirits Council of the United States Vice President of State Government Relations. “Arizona businesses have been hit particularly hard and allowing cocktails to-go will provide much-needed relief.
